Wherever You Have Gone

Losing you was like
Feeling my heart fall
Out of my chest
Onto a bed of cinders
On the ground
You had the best laugh
The greatest smile
The most beautiful sound
I could stand in
Your light
Forever

Wherever you have gone
I know that you are still
Here with me
Even though I cannot see you
I can feel you everywhere
Screaming out your name
Whispering it low
Rocking through
My soul

In the music that I listen to
You come through every day
I wear your face for both of us
We can rise together
Nothing completes me
Without you

I want you here with me
Physically
To a human
It’s not the same
My spirit is untamed
I cannot stand still
My desire to hold
You again is sometimes
Unbearable

But you have taught me to go slow
To enjoy the ride
You are by my side
I cannot deny your presence
The air that surrounds me
Drips with you

Wherever you have gone
I know that you are still
Here with me
Even though I cannot see you
I can feel you everywhere
Screaming out your name
Whispering it low
Rocking through
My soul

Behold you are in everything
I am listening always listening
Wanting to sing to you
Wanting to bring to you
Everything I wish I could have
The way that you needed it
Godspeed in it

I am changing
I am growing
Painfully
Knowingly

I can feel my chemistry shifting
Something is lifting
Suffocated by the night
Nurtured by the light
I accept them both
They are mine to have
In remembrance of you
And nothing need replace you

Wherever you have gone
I know that you are still
Here with me
Even though I cannot see you
I can feel you everywhere
Screaming out your name
Whispering it low
Rocking through
My soul

You are rocking
Through my
Soul
