Stop caring about the things you cannot change. If you are constantly bothered by the way others treat you, or if you find that things they do perturb you, the best way to have a peaceful life is to stop caring. This doesn’t mean that you stop caring about the people themselves and their highest good; it means that you stop caring and investing your time in the things that they do. If we focus too heavily on the things we don’t get back from the people we care about, all our attention will be on issues of lack. Give to yourself by taking a break from caring about what people do. Investigate what you care about and why. Ask yourself the real reason why you care about how someone acts or behaves in a certain situation. What do you have invested in the way others behave? If the answers are your own self-worth, your dignity or your meal ticket, it is time to rethink and re-care about the real things that bring you self-worth. Each time a thought of someone else’s negative behavior starts to repeat itself in your mind, stop it by saying to yourself: I choose not to care about this, it has nothing to do with me or my overall life plan. Daily Meditation: I will care more about the beauty of life, and less about people’s behavior patterns. ~Terry Lynn Taylor & Mary Beth Crain
